Building on the momentum of our recent sessions, the next BACnet User Group meeting continues our hands-on exploration of BACnet/SC, interoperability, and real-world diagnostics. Previous meetups brought together industry professionals for live BACnet/SC and BACnet/IP testing, interactive tool demonstrations, and open discussions on integration challenges across vendors.
In this upcoming session, we’ll take the next step—diving deeper into practical deployment strategies, advanced troubleshooting techniques, and lessons learned from real installations. As always, the focus remains on sharing knowledge, experimenting with live systems, and learning directly from peers and experts in the field.
Whether you joined us for earlier sessions or are attending for the first time, this is a great opportunity to connect with the local BACnet community, bring your toughest questions, and collaborate in a casual, highly technical environment.
Expect live demos, open discussion, and plenty of time to network with fellow building automation professionals. Bring your gear, your questions, and your experience—we’ll build on it together.
Agenda:
2 pm - live interop testing - come early and join us
4 pm - official part. We will have two speakers:
Mike David, Siemens, will speak about SC debugging experience
Have you wrestled with BACnet/SC and wondered what’s really happening under the hood when things don’t connect, route, or stay secure? In this session, Mike David - Sr. District Automation Spec at Siemens will share real-world BACnet/SC debugging experiences - from certificate headaches and hub connectivity issues to elusive interoperability quirks that only show up in live deployments. We’ll walk through practical techniques, tools, and workflows used to diagnose and resolve issues quickly, with an emphasis on lessons learned the hard way. If you’re deploying or supporting BACnet/SC, this is a chance to see how others are tackling the same challenges and to sharpen your own troubleshooting approach.
Carol Lomonaco, will speak about BACnet Network Design Guide
Join us for an insightful session on the Cimetrics BACnet Network Design Guide, a practical resource designed to help engineers, integrators, and IT professionals build secure, scalable, and efficient BACnet networks. Carol will discuss modern approaches to BACnet/IP and BACnet/SC architecture, network segmentation, cybersecurity best practices, and deployment strategies for today’s smart buildings. Whether you are involved in BAS design, integration, or facility operations, this session will provide valuable guidance for creating more resilient and future-ready building automation systems.
6 PM - Barbeque dinner prepared by an award-winning chef and sponsored by BACnet International. Enjoy cold beers and cookies.
What to expect:
