BACnet User Group meetup was at our Cimetrics office in beautiful Greenville, NH! Our latest BACnet User Group meeting was another successful and highly interactive gathering of building automation professionals, integrators, engineers, and BACnet enthusiasts focused on real-world BACnet/SC interoperability and diagnostics.
The afternoon began with live interoperability testing, where attendees connected BACnet/SC and BACnet/IP devices from multiple vendors, explored integration scenarios, and exchanged troubleshooting techniques in a collaborative lab-style environment. Participants brought equipment, tested configurations, and worked through practical deployment challenges together.
The official session featured two outstanding technical presentations:
Mike David, Sr. District Automation Specialist at Siemens, shared valuable real-world BACnet/SC troubleshooting experiences from live deployments. His presentation covered common challenges including certificate management, hub connectivity issues, routing problems, and interoperability quirks that emerge in complex systems. Attendees appreciated the practical debugging workflows, diagnostic tools, and lessons learned from field installations.
Carol Lomonaco presented the Cimetrics BACnet Network Design Guide, highlighting best practices for designing secure, scalable, and resilient BACnet/IP and BACnet/SC networks. The session covered network architecture, segmentation strategies, cybersecurity considerations, and modern deployment approaches for smart buildings. The discussion generated strong engagement around future-ready BAS infrastructure and secure integration practices.
As always, one of the highlights of the event was the open discussion and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing throughout the evening. The casual technical atmosphere encouraged attendees to ask questions, exchange ideas, and collaborate across organizations and vendors.
The event concluded with an excellent barbeque dinner prepared by an award-winning chef and generously sponsored by BACnet International. Attendees enjoyed great food, beverages, networking, and continued technical conversations well into the evening.
